Professor Werner Weppner came to Veran New Energy for guidance

Werner J.F. Weppner has a long-

standing experience in solid state electrochemistry since his doctorate at Dortmund University with Hans Rickert, a former close coworker of Carl Wagner of Gottingen. After a postdoctoral period at Stanford University, he joined the Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research at Stuttgart and became a Professor and Chairholder for Sensors and Solid State Ionics at the University of Kiel in 1993. His work covers a wide range of aspects of fast ion transport in solids from fundamental understanding, experimental techniques, materials characterization, development of new materials and principles for practical applications in batteries, fuel cells, sensors, electrochromic devices and photogalvanic solar cells. He is also involved in a large variety of professional activities  and among others Editor-in-Chief of the journal IONICS.

Professor Weppner, a famous scholar in the field of solid state battery, proposed GITT and Pitt, the most commonly used test methods in electrochemistry, in 1976. In 2007, he discovered the oxide solid electrolyte Li7La3Zr2O12, which has the widest electrochemical window and the highest ionic conductivity at room temperature. He is also a colleague of Prof. Chen Liquan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and founder of Beijing Weilan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., when he worked in Max Planck Institute in Germany. He has been an academic friend for more than 40 years. Professor Weppner has a deep academic background and is good at understanding the development of materials and ion transport and reaction behavior from the perspective of thermodynamics and kinetics, which is also the reason for his ground-breaking work.

First of all, accompanied by the company leaders, Professor Weppner and his wife visited the exhibition hall of Wellan New Energy. Vice General Manager Li Yongwei, Technical Director Huang Jie, and Executive Director Xiang Jin had academic exchanges with Professor Weppner.

In the exhibition hall, Professor Weppner was so excited when he saw a photo taken with academician Chen Liquan in his work more than 40 years ago. His wife even burst into tears.

In the meeting room, Professor Weppner listened to the research and development progress of Verylan New Energy in the next generation solid state lithium battery, and praised and expressed hope for the company's current research and development technology. Meanwhile, Professor Weppner thanked for the technical guidance of Professor Weppner. Weilan New Energy will speed up the improvement of research and development technology, aiming at the international advanced technology of solid state battery, and become a pioneer enterprise to master the core technology of solid state battery through original innovation, making outstanding contributions to the sustainable development of clean energy and the protection of blue sky.
